Nutcracker 2024 Auditions

Audition dates and information:

SYPG will hold dance auditions on Friday, August 23, 2024, for its upcoming annual production of the classical ballet, The Nutcracker.

Where:
The Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance
501 West Elliott Ave, Springfield

Schedule:
Registration 5-6 p.m.
Dance auditions from 6-7 p.m.
There will be a brief parent meeting following the completion of auditions.

Eligibility:
Dance auditions are open to children ages 5 to 15 and numerous parts are available for both boys and girls. Children must be enrolled in a dance class at any dance studio to audition.
All participants must arrive by the close of registration and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Dress:
Girls should have their hair in a bun and wear a black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Boys should wear a white t-shirt, black pants and black ballet or jazz shoes.

Cost:
There is a $75 performance fee for each dancer that is due by the first rehearsal.

Performance dates and information:

SYPG will present The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Sacred Heart Griffin Auditorium, 1200 West Washington Street, Springfield.

Rehearsals will be held Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons beginning September 27th at the Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance. Generally, each performer will rehearse only one hour per week, depending upon the part, until full show rehearsals begin in November. A costume fitting will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on September 28th at Grant Conservatory. Specific time assignments based on parts will be sent out with casting and it should take 30 minutes or less.
